Grouping Zelda and Mario together for criticism though, hints of a stereotype or grouping of Nintendo games. To pretend starfield isn't bad, like we have been doing, is really doing everyone a disservice. Starfield is terrible, just being honest here, compared to the vast majority of average Nintendo games, and should have not shipped as it will ruin that formula for all future games without major overhaul, and that game got good reviews and reception, so yes, Mario Wonder and TotK are lightyears above THAT if you really want to talk about 'mid' games, Starfield is legit the middest game of all mid. No matter how one feels about nintendo games themselves, the game easily soars over all but the best games. I'd say that no knowledge is required or even very beneficial to start BG3 and I highly recommend skipping the first two games and just starting with 3. You may get a small something extra from playing the first two games, but they are totally irrelevant and should not be considered a reason not to play BG3.
